Randall Project
Tasked with updating this classic L-shaped kitchen and living area, we designed a custom feature wall that extends along the entire back wall, unifying the open concept design. Built-in bookcases with open and hidden storage seamlessly flow into the 9’ custom banquette seating and full-height pantry. The two faux beams in ceiling white mimic the support beam and add definition and high impact interest to the dining area. The perimeter cabinetry was refreshed with a coat of warm white, new hardware and under cabinet lighting. Contrasting the jet black quartz countertops is a stunning herringbone patterned marble mosaic tile that adds dimension and sparkle. We replaced an awkwardly shaped island with a new build; providing extra seating for this busy family. With its contrasting stone top and a base stained to perfectly match the new dining table, the island is the beautiful hub of this great room overhaul. With layers of neutral woods, stones and fabrics, combinations of patterns, textures and sheens, enveloped by walls in a warm white (Benjamin Moore Elmira White) we were delighted these clients wanted lots of colour. Using a fabulously bold area rug for inspiration, we brought in the entire spectrum: from shades of blue and green, reds and oranges, to everyone’s favourite: the purple swivel chair! Functional, elegant, fun and liveable.
