Ridgeway-by-the-Lake
We were so happy to work on this great new build project with an up-scale but casual, beach-y vibe and the client’s love of European and mid-century modern design. In the living area, we started with the client’s own leather sofas. Beginning with a traditional wool flat weave area rug, we played with the palette of creams, taupes and soft greys, exemplified in the bold striped patterned fabric used on the show-wood lounge chairs. The surprising hint of colour in the black framed art is a nod to the adjoining dining area with its cobalt Merano crystal chandelier and bold blue abstract art. We love the juxtaposition of this contemporary canvas over the intricately carved happiness sideboard. (And for more blue glass - check out the laundry room backsplash!) Classic pleated custom drapes are the perfect frame for an elegantly casual living area. The sunroom area received a whole new look with new fabrics on the upholstery and toss pillows, a simple subtly striped area rug and boldly modern floor lamp. The home office space needed to be both functional and inspirational. The sleek glass and polished chrome desk resides next to a rich fabric wrapped two-door cabinet whose diamond pattern plays off the pieced cowhide rug. And the MCM style surfaces again in the starburst clock and white leather Eames chair. It’s so hard to choose a favourite in this room, but we’re partial to the menswear inspired grey wool pinstripe of the drapes!
