Meet Our Team
Peter Gingras – CFO

With over 35 years of managerial and project management experience, Peter Ginga is the operational backbone of The Design Project. As CFO and Project Manager, Peter combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution to ensure every aspect of the business runs smoothly—both behind the scenes and on-site.
Peter began his career at Apotex, one of Canada’s largest pharmaceutical companies, where he played a key role in scaling operations and developing streamlined business systems. His expertise spans company development, delegation, CRM systems, process mapping, and organizational structure. His ability to turn vision into action laid the groundwork for a thriving career in operations and leadership.
When Karen Dunn saw a need in the market for design-focused furniture procurement, Peter saw the opportunity to build something lasting. Together, they co-founded The Design Project, blending Karen’s creative vision with Peter’s logistical expertise. His role has been instrumental in shaping the firm into the successful, service-oriented company it is today.
Peter brings the same passion to each project that he brings to the firm—ensuring structure, clarity, and efficiency while supporting the creative process every step of the way.
Emily Dunn – President & Senior Designer

As President and Senior Decorator of The Design Project, Emily Dunn proudly carries forward the legacy of her late mother and founder, Karen Dunn. For over eight years, Emily worked closely alongside Karen as her right hand on countless projects, naturally growing into a leadership role that honors the firm’s roots while shaping its future.
Emily holds a degree in psychology, which she seamlessly integrates into her design work. Her unique approach is grounded in the belief that interiors have a powerful impact on our emotions and well-being. By applying the psychology of design, Emily creates spaces that are not only aesthetically beautiful but also deeply personal, supportive, and functional.
Beginning her career at The Design Project as a junior decorator, Emily quickly gained recognition for her thoughtful design process, keen attention to detail, and her intuitive ability to connect with clients. Her love of travel, passion for organization, and creative spirit continue to fuel her design philosophy: to craft intentional, holistic spaces that reflect the individual personalities of each client.
Emily has been married to her husband for 15 years, and together they share their home with their three beloved cats. Her family life and professional journey are both centered around care, connection, and creativity—values that continue to guide The Design Project under her leadership.
Katharine Dunn – Office Manager

Katharine Dunn brings organization, reliability, and a strong sense of professionalism to her role as Office Manager at The Design Project. While also pursuing her passion for teaching, Katharine plays a vital role behind the scenes—overseeing administrative tasks, coordinating logistics, and ensuring day-to-day operations run seamlessly.
With a sharp eye for detail and a natural talent for organization, Katharine manages everything from order tracking and supplier communications to scheduling deliveries, installations, and procurement timelines. She’s committed to customer satisfaction, providing timely follow-ups and ensuring that every stage of a project is on track and accounted for.
Inheriting her mother Karen’s dedication and precision, Katharine continues the legacy of professionalism and care that has defined The Design Project from the beginning. Her calm, efficient approach keeps the team grounded and the office running like clockwork.
Outside of work, Katharine is a devoted mom to two young boys who keep her on her toes—but she never compromises on her work ethic or her commitment to the continued success of the firm.
About Our Founder: Karen Dunn
Celebrating the Legacy of Passion and Design
The Design Project was founded by Karen Dunn, a visionary with over 25 years of experience in interior design. Alongside her partner Peter, Karen built the firm on a foundation of creativity, integrity, and a deep appreciation for the details that make a space truly feel like home. Specializing in interior design and furniture procurement, The Design Project quickly earned a reputation for thoughtful, functional, and beautiful design solutions.
Karen’s career journey was diverse—she explored many professions before discovering her true passion: design. Her innate curiosity and drive to learn led her across the globe, where she drew inspiration from travel, architecture, art, and culture. These experiences helped shape her unique design perspective, blending timeless elegance with practical comfort.
Family was at the heart of Karen’s work. Raised in a family business, she proudly continued that tradition by bringing her daughters, Emily and Katharine, into the firm. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her two grandsons, who brought her endless happiness and perspective.
Karen believed that “if you love your job, you never work a day in your life.” That belief guided every project she touched and continues to inspire the team she built. Her legacy lives on through The Design Project’s commitment to excellence, passion for design, and dedication to family values.
